We clean dryer vents in Scottsdale homes

Scottsdale homes change a lot from south to north. The older south end is mostly ranch houses from the post-war years on flat, open lots. McCormick Ranch and Gainey Ranch hold newer stucco houses with tile roofs, built around golf courses and lakes. Up north, custom homes sit spread out in the desert near the McDowell Mountains. Each style puts the laundry room somewhere different, and that decides how far a dryer vent has to travel to get outside.

Many of the newer houses put the laundry room in the middle of the floor plan. The dryer vent then runs up through the attic, turns a few corners and exits through the roof. Lint catches at every turn and slowly narrows the pipe. Dust from a summer storm can also block the cap on the roof. Once that happens, the dryer needs extra cycles to finish a load and the laundry room gets hot. Packed lint burns easily, so a blocked vent is a real fire risk.

We start with a dryer vent inspection, so you know what is inside the vent before we clean it. Then we clean the vent from the back of the dryer to the cap outside, and clear out anything packed into the cap. Outside the house, we pressure wash patios and driveways that the desert dust has turned brown. Inside, we do deep cleaning and floor cleaning when a house needs more than a clean vent.

Old Town restaurants need clean exhaust hoods

Scottsdale has a lot of places to eat for a city its size. Old Town has restaurants and bars on nearly every block, and the resorts around the city run kitchens from breakfast into the night. Every one of those kitchens pulls smoke and grease up into a hood, and a duct carries it to a fan on the roof. Cleaning commercial kitchen exhaust systems is the main work we do.

Filters catch some of the grease, but never all of it. The rest coats the inside of the duct and the fan, where nobody sees it, and it builds up week after week. Grease burns hot, so a flare-up on a grill can climb into a dirty duct and spread toward the roof. In summer, the sun on a Scottsdale roof softens old grease around the exhaust fan, and it runs out onto the roof.

We clean the whole system, starting at the hood over the stoves and ending at the fan on the roof. The filters get cleaned and the grease gets scraped and washed off the inside of the duct and the fan. If the fan has no hinge, we can fit an exhaust fan hinge kit so it tilts open for cleaning. Monsoon dust coats Scottsdale patios and storefronts

Scottsdale summers bring the monsoon, and many storms start with blowing dust before any rain falls. The dust settles on pool decks, pavers, walkways and the fronts of shops. When a short shower follows, it turns that dust into a thin mud that dries hard in the sun. Travertine and pavers around pools and patios hold onto it in every seam. A garden hose moves some of it, and the rest stays.

Businesses feel it more than houses do. Behind a restaurant, the back door area collects grease and food spills on top of the dust. Out front, the entry is the first thing a customer walks across. Up in north Scottsdale, the Airpark business area is full of offices and industrial space, where floors and heavy equipment pick up the same grime. A greasy floor or a dusty entry looks bad to customers, and it can be slippery underfoot.

We pressure wash concrete and pavers, and we clean up commercial properties after a storm or a messy job. Inside, we clean floors and handle spill cleanup, then wipe down surfaces with disinfectant cleaner. At industrial sites we also clean plant floors and heavy equipment.
